Harriet HarmanShe may be known for her feminist views but we like to think even Harriet Harman may have enjoyed a little flush of pride at being nominated for the Rear of the Year award.

The Minister for Women has emerged as an unlikely candidate for the award, despite making it clear that she would like images of Page 3 girls banned from workplaces across the country.

But the inclusion of an MP amongst this year's nominations has come as something of a surprise, even to organisers.

Rear of the Year organiser Tony Edwards, told The Telegraph: "These are not large numbers but a dozen nominations in one week usually indicates encouragement on a fan-based website or an organised group effort of some kind.

"It happens, from time to time, with celebrities in the public eye whose blogs and websites sometimes promote them as potential candidates.

"But we've never seen it happen before with an MP in the 28 years the competition has been going."

Should she scoop the award Ms Harman would be joining the illustrious ranks of previous winners such as Denise van Outen and Charlotte Church.

But Mr Edwards pointed out that it was still early in the competition.

"Perhaps some of Labour's backbencher have decided to get behind her in the competition.

"These are early days with a further four months of voting to go so it would be premature to talk about a winner from the world of politics or whether Ms Harman's seat is set for the spotlight."

Harriet Harman's "seat" in the spotlight... now there's a thought.
